DOUBLE HEADER DERBY FRIDAY WEEK II AT THE ATLANTA FALL CLASSICS! Julie Curtin pilots Whitney over a jump on their way to the win in yesterday’s $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Derby, presented by Legend For Immediate Release: November 19, 2016 [Conyers, Georgia] It was a double header Derby Day yesterday, Week II of the Atlanta Fall Classics held at the Georgia International Horse Park. The morning started out with the $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Derby, presented by Legend and Wesley Wilson’s Whitney , ridden by Julie Curtin of Woodstock, Georgia, galloped away with the blue besting thirteen horse and rider teams to win the class with a combined score of 182. Curtin and Whitney led the class after posting the highest round score of 90 and maintained their lead in the Handy round after earning a second round score of 92.

This marks the fourth win for Ward at The New Albany Classic (including 2004 on Goldika, 2011 on Pjotter Van De Zonnehoeve, 2012 on Pjotter Van De Zonnehoeve). Photo: Curtis Wallis Founded and hosted by Abigail Wexner at her home in New Albany, Ohio, the FEI CSI 2* and USEF 5* rated competition drew over 15,000 attendees and generated more than $1.7 million to support family violence initiatives in central Ohio provided by The Center for Family Safety & Healing . This year’s class was formidable, with 9 riders of the 25 combinations going clear over the Richard Jeffery designed course.
